Since its grand opening in 1825, the Erie Canal has been recognized as an engineering marvel that put New York on the map. Throughout its 200-year history, the canal shaped both New York and US history, playing a major role in abolition, women’s suffrage, and so much more.
This summer, Explore & More will help celebrate the Erie Canal’s Bicentennial with fun throughout the summer.
Activities at Canalside
Starting June 25
Explore & More will host Bicentennial programming at Canalside, which will include hands-on activities and outside presenters. Stay tuned for our full schedule.
Family Scavenger Hunt
Wednesdays & Sundays (June 25-August 30); 11am-4pm
Families are invited to participate in our Canalside Scavenger Hunt featuring a custom Bingo board with 25 items that can be found around Canalside on it. Once they complete a Bingo, they can redeem their board at Explore & More for a prize.
Adult Scavenger Hunt: Canalside Challenge
June 25 and August 20 (5pm-6:30pm)
Participants will form teams to compete in a Scavenger Hunt around Canalside. More details and registration information to come!
