Explore & More – The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children’s Museum is thrilled to announce the reopening of the Community Treehouse.
Explore & More is also proud to announce the Scott Bieler Family Foundation as the presenting sponsor of the Community Treehouse and with community support, over $18,000 was raised to update the exhibit thanks to generous donors during this year’s Give 716 campaign.
The Treehouse has undergone significant renovations due to the work of Buffalo Treehouse, who designed and constructed the exhibit. The Treehouse reopened to the public on Saturday, September 20.
New elements include an interactive waterfall and stream, a campfire site, a bear cave, and a new slide.
“The updated Treehouse is remarkable,” said Explore & More President and CEO Michelle Urbanczyk. “It’s clear how much love and hard work was put into it by our partners at Buffalo Treehouse to create an immersive experience that kids and adults will both love. On top of that, we’re humbled by the support from Scott Bieler, the Scott Bieler Family Foundation, People Centered Services, and our Give 716 donors to help make this exhibit best in class.”
“The Scott Bieler Family Foundation is honored to be the presenting sponsor of the Community Treehouse at Explore & More – The Ralph Wilson, Jr. Children’s Museum. We are proud to be a part of this all-inclusive accessible treehouse that will provide enjoyment to children and their families for many years to come,” said Scott Bieler.
The first indoor play area of its kind in the region, the Treehouse, which originally opened in February 2020, immerses visitors in a breathtaking Western New York woodland scene, taking the concept of an inclusive outdoor playground and transporting it indoors with a whimsical twist. The Treehouse structure is accessible to everyone, including guests in wheeled mobility devices.
In May, the Treehouse sustained significant water damage due to a fire suppression system malfunction. The museum was forced to close the exhibit, and planning for its next phase began immediately.
Now, the Treehouse is back and better than ever.
